Mekies after Barcelona: 'We picked up all the points that were available to us'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6192/

Laurent Mekies, CEO and Team Principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing, said after the race in Barcelona: "The race produced an accurate picture of where we are with our current package on this sort of track. Coming into the weekend, we knew that a power and high speed corners circuit like Barcelona would present a slightly more complicated challenge than other types of circuit. What we saw today mirrored the situation in qualifying, in that we could fight with the other top teams but we did not have the pace to challenge for the win today. To do that, we still need to find between four and five tenths."

Verstappen P4 in Spain as Hamilton takes maiden Ferrari victory: 'A lonely race'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6191/

Max Verstappen finished fourth in the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona. The opening phase of the race was relatively calm, with little movement at the front, but as the race progressed the tension steadily increased. A fight for the podium positions, varying strategies, a virtual safety car, and retirements for Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Charles Leclerc all combined to produce a dramatic closing stage. Lewis Hamilton ultimately came out on top, claiming his first victory for Ferrari. George Russell finished second, while Lando Norris completed an all-British podium. Verstappen extracted the maximum from his race to finish P4, ahead of Oscar Piastri in fifth.

“For me it was actually quite a lonely race and just too slow,” Verstappen said after the race. “Every stint you just lose a bit of time on every tyre. None of them really worked, at least for us. But I think that is also just because we are a bit too slow on all compounds.”

In the closing stages Verstappen was still setting competitive lap times on the medium tyre, but according to the four-time world champion it did not feel any better. “That was mainly because I pitted a bit later and therefore had a few laps of advantage. But towards the end it did not really go. In reality it was just the same as in all the stints.”

Verstappen also watched Lewis Hamilton take his first win for Ferrari. The Dutchman had praise for the seven-time world champion: “It is a nice moment. From what I could see he was incredibly quick today. Your first win with a new team is always very special, even if you have already won so much.”

He also reacted to the news that Nyck de Vries had won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. “I had not seen it yet, because I only look at my phone once I am back in my room. But that is obviously really great. I am happy about that.” He also looked ahead to the evening, when the Netherlands face Japan in football: “I hope they win, that is the most important thing.”

Jos Verstappen takes victory at Rally of Wervik: 'Happy with this'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6190/

Jos Verstappen and his co-driver Renaud Jamoul took victory at the Rally of Wervik in a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 car prepared by Sarrazin Motorsport. The Verstappen Racing pairing recorded the fastest time on six of the twelve special stages.

“It was a shame about the puncture and flat tyre, as things were going reasonably well,” Verstappen said in the morning, following their first stint. “We’re testing a few things and hope to continue on at the same pace.”

The pair were able to keep a good thing going in the following stints and outcompete the rest of the field. After crossing the finish line, a pleased Verstappen chimed in: “We are very satisfied with this win. We managed to improve the car throughout the day, it feels good. We’re happy with this."

The Rally of Wervik served not only as preparation for the Ypres Rally in two weeks' time, but also as Jamoul's first time stepping back in the car for a competitive session since suffering an ankle fracture.

Mekies after qualifying in Barcelona: 'The hard work is paying off'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6189/

Laurent Mekies, CEO and team principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing, said after the qualifying in Barcelona: "As a team, we are never going to be happy with P5 and P6. But, it’s fair to say we expected a bit of a reality check here in Barcelona because of the nature of the track, with its long straight and high speed corners. We know we are a bit weaker on this type of layout, certainly when compared to Monaco. Throughout all three practice sessions, we worked very hard to try and put the car in a better place. In fact, the gap to Pole, three and a half tenths, is probably the smallest we have seen so far this season on this type of track."

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6188/

Max Verstappen has qualified in fifth place for the Barcelona Grand Prix. In an exciting qualifying session, the Oracle Red Bull Racing driver looked set for a top-three result during his final flying lap in Q3, but lost some time in the final sector. With a lap time of 1:15.021, Max ultimately had to settle for P5, finishing more than three tenths of a second slower than pole-sitter George Russell in the Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton qualified second in his Ferrari, while championship leader Kimi Antonelli secured third on the grid for Mercedes.

Max Verstappen was sixth fastest in the third and final practice session of the Barcelona Grand Prix. George Russell (Mercedes) was quickest in a quiet session, ahead of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

When the session gets underway, its only the two Cadillacs of Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez that join the sole Audi (Nico Hulkenberg) out on track. It is not until 20 minutes into FP3 that more drivers take to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Monaghan after Friday in Barcelona: 'We aren't miles off'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6186/

Paul Monaghan, chief engineering, car engineering of Oracle Red Bull Racing, said after Friday’s practice sessions in Barcelona: “We aren’t miles off, in fact everyone seems to be experiencing similar issues and it is now our job to fix them to try and improve. This is another high-speed challenging track with four fast corners and we have to work on how best to navigate these. We will also look into how we can perhaps better manage the tyres and optimise our performance. We have made a lot of progress, but other teams are not standing still, so it looks from today, like we are not quite close enough yet. We have to get the best out of our car and work on how best to operate. Ultimately, we just need to focus on ourselves, get an understanding of what the car requires and then see where we end up.”

Max fourth in Barcelona FP1

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6184/

Max Verstappen clocked the fourth fastest time in the opening practice session of the Barcelona Grand Prix. George Russell (Mercedes) was quickest in a session which saw several test drivers and rookies take to the track. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri was second fastest, ahead of third placed Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).

In FP1, seven test drivers made an appearance. Ayumu Iwasa drove Isack Hadjar’s Oracle Red Bull Racing alongside Leonardo Fornaroli (McLaren), Paul Aron (Audi), Dino Beganovic Ferrari), Colton Herta (Cadillac), Fred Vesti (Mercedes) and Luke Browning (Williams). Unfortunately for Browning, his appearance remained limited to being a spectator in the cockpit with Williams unable to get the car ready due to technical issues.

The first half of the sessions sees most drivers head out on the hard and medium Pirelli tyres. Max starts on the latter but is not too pleased with the handling of the Red Bull. “I have understeer in one corner, but oversteer in the next. I’ve got everything, it’s horrible.” Nevertheless, the 4-time champ remains in the top six throughout practice.

Max from Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya: 'First real test of strength'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6183/

A week after the disappointing Monaco Grand Prix, it is already time for the Barcelona Grand Prix. At the circuit where Max Verstappen claimed his first victory 10 years ago, he now looks ahead to the second European race of the season.

“That first Grand Prix victory feels like a long time ago,” said the 28-year-old Verstappen. “I always enjoy being here. Barcelona is one of my favourite cities and it is also a great track as well. I hope we have a good weekend. It looks as though it will be nice and warm. Monaco did not end the way we wanted, but life goes on.”

The FIA has amended the regulations for 2027 and 2028, giving the internal combustion engine a larger share of the total power produced by the power units. Max commented: “It was good to see that changes are being made. Not only for this year, but also for next year. Of course, I had hoped we would move to V8 engines next year, but I also understand that there are politics involved. In any case, changes are being made, and that is a good thing.”

Max Verstappen’s car halted at the start of the Monaco Grand Prix due to technical issues. The Dutch Oracle Red Bull Racing driver said, previewing the Barcelona Grand Prix: “It wasn’t the result we wanted from Monaco and was a big disappointment for the team as everything had gone so well over the weekend, so I feel like there is unfinished business. Barcelona is a completely different circuit, with the high-speed turns, long corners and the long straight and it will be a good test and interesting to see if we have made a good step forward.”

Antonelli wins in Monaco as Max drops out at the start: 'Disappointing'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6180/

Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) won a flawless and unthreatened victory from pole at the Monaco Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) finished second ahead of Isack Hadjar (Oracle Red Bull Racing), who was a surprise podium-finisher in a race that saw seven DNF’s, two safety car moments and was even brought to a brief still stand.

“The formation lap already felt a bit odd,” Max explained after he exited the car. “After that, the pre-start was truly terrible; there was just absolutely no consistency. As soon as I dropped the clutch that was it. The engine broke down completely. After that the noise that I heard from the engine once I got some power back out of turn 1 was very bad. I couldn't go full throttle, we brought the car in, and that was it.”

“I had no power, so I was steering left purely with the friction of the wheels, and just praying everyone would go right. Luckily everyone reacted very well.”

“We had a really good weekend up until the race. Of course everyone is really disappointed not to be on the podium,” Max says in summary. “We need to make sure that we finish races, and then we need to understand what went wrong today.”

We can be very proud of the job done by everyone back in Milton Keynes and at the race track. Of course, we can never be completely happy, missing pole by four hundredths, especially in Monaco but it’s a great result for the team with a few fantastic laps from Max to get us to the front row, and with Isack in P5.”

Max surprises with front row start in Monaco: 'I would have taken it'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6178/

Max Verstappen has qualified second for the Monaco Grand Prix after a tense qualifying session. The Dutchman was on course for pole position in the closing stages, but Kimi Antonelli managed to go fastest on his very last lap, taking the first place on the starting grid. Lewis Hamilton qualifies third, while Charles Leclerc, after a mistake on his final attempt, has to settle for fourth, ahead of Isack Hadjar.

“If you would have told me yesterday that we would be on the front row, I would have taken it,” Max says afterwards. “I went into qualifying thinking: maybe top five. So when you’re fighting for pole, that just feels really good.” The Dutchman was surprised by Red Bull’s pace. “I didn’t expect it to be that much better compared to the rest. I just didn’t expect to be in the fight for pole.”

Thanks to his strong final lap, Max secures a place on the front row. The Dutchman now turns his focus to Sunday. “We need a bit of luck of course. You can’t overtake here, but you never know,” he reflects. Asked whether he was disappointed with the tiny gap to polesitter Kimi Antonelli, Verstappen remains calm: “I didn’t make any mistakes on my lap, so I don’t think you can be too negative about it.”

Looking back on the session, Max also reflects on the feeling of the current generation of Formula 1 cars around a circuit like Monaco. “They are more on edge than the last few years. Even with the power delivery, drivability and shifting, it’s all a bit different. Once you get on top of it and you get a clean lap out of it, especially in qualifying where you’re flat out on the limit, it’s very rewarding when it goes well.”

Laurent Mekies, CEO and team principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing, said after the Canadian Grand Prix: "Firstly, congratulations to everyone at Red Bull Ford Powertrains. To claim our very first podium with our own PU, in only its fifth race, is truly a historic moment, especially when you consider the pedigree and experience of our competitors. A PU on its own is not enough and of course this result is also down to the hard work of everyone back on campus in Milton Keynes and here at the track."

Max to start Canadian Grand Prix from P6: 'I don't know what was going on'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6168/

Max Verstappen has qualified sixth ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix. The Dutchman struggled through a tough session where he wrestled with the pace of the car and getting the tyres to the right temperature. While Mercedes impressed with a dominant closing stint, it was George Russell who claimed pole ahead of teammate Kimi Antonelli. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will be in their rearview mirrors on the second row.

Max shared some of his thoughts with the press after qualifying: “Truthfully, I don’t know what was going on in qualifying. It was very strange,” he began to explain. “Every lap felt like I kept going slower on the straights.” The four-time champion also mentioned that changes to the setup had had limited effect: “It was somewhat better over the kerbs and bumps, but it also meant I lost downforce. In the end, that does work against you.”

Getting the tyres to the right temperature was another struggle: “Because you’re slower coming into certain turns, the points at which you brake also change. That doesn’t help at all.”

In anticipation of qualifying, Oracle Red Bull Racing also tried some different setups with the car: “I tried something with the car – that’s what the team wanted. So I said: ‘Go ahead.’ But it’s clear to me now that it was the wrong choice.”

With rain expected for Sunday, Max is not anticipating an easy race: “It’s already hard enough to keep the slicks in good condition across one lap. In Barcelona, it was already difficult to get the wet tyres working. So that’s a problem I’m anticipating.”

Max remains P7 after eventful sprint race in Canada: 'It can only get better'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6167/

Max Verstappen was unable to make up ground during the sprint race for the Canadian Grand Prix. The Dutchman struggled with a bouncing car throughout the race and ultimately crossed the line in seventh place, the same position from which he started. At the front, there was intense battling for the podium positions: Kimi Antonelli repeatedly challenged leader George Russell, but also lost out to Lando Norris after several intense fights. In the end, Russell came out on top to win the sprint ahead of Norris and Antonelli.

The sprint race in Canada was far from enjoyable for Max, who spent most of the race running in no man’s land while once again struggling with a bouncing car. “We already knew after sprint qualifying that we have that issue, and after qualifying you can’t touch the car anymore,” he explained. “So really you just want to survive that sprint race and then hope you can improve the car for qualifying.”

According to Max, the issue is a familiar one: “It’s a known problem with the car, sometimes it’s worse than others. This time it was really extreme,” he said. “The car is very difficult over the bumps. It’s really uncomfortable to drive.”

Looking ahead to qualifying later today, Max hopes that the right adjustments can help turn things around. “We’re going to make some changes, because this is really difficult to drive,” he said. Asked whether a top-five result is achievable, Max replied: “If we improve the car a bit, yes. We can’t make it worse, that’s for sure. We can only make it better.”

Wache after sprint qualifying in Montreal: 'More performance available'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6166/

Pierre Waché, technical director of Oracle Red Bull Racing, said after the sprint qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix: “In practice we tried to learn as much as possible for the rest of the weekend across qualifying and from the long runs in free practice. We saw a direction to go in, but putting the tyre where want it to be was quite difficult. Sprint quali didn't go as we had hoped, we had an issue with Max where car performance deteriorated as the session went on, so we need to understand that. I think we had more performance available to us, but we just weren't able to extract it today.”

Max seventh in sprint qualifying in Canada: 'I struggled with the car'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6165/

In sprint qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen finished in seventh place, half a second adrift of George Russell, who narrowly edged out his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli for pole. The McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri locked out the second row in Montreal.

“I’m not surprised by this result,” said Max afterwards. “My feeling in the car was not so good. I was struggling a lot with it. It was very difficult to be consistent. That’s something we need to investigate. We’ll have to deal with it for the sprint, but hopefully we can improve it for qualifying.”

Canadian GP: Max fifth in only practice session

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6164/

Max Verstappen has clocked the fifth fastest lap during the first and only practice session of the Canadian Grand Prix. In a disjointed session, a result of three red flags, Kimi Antonelli set the pace, followed by Mercedes teammate George Russell. The Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton (P3) and Charles Leclerc (P4) where best of the rest, almost eight tenths adrift.

As it is a sprint weekend, track time is in high demand during the only practice session before the drivers head into Friday afternoon’s sprint qualifying, Saturday’s sprint and Saturday's Grand Prix qualifying.

It is a botched start for Franco Colapinto and Liam Lawson. The former’s Alpine nearly grinds to a halt, but the Argentinian nurses his car to the pits with a technical problem. Lawson is more unfortunate with this Racing Bull shutting down and having to be pushed behind the barriers by the marshals. The stricken RB prompts the first red flag of the session at a time when Max tops the leaderboards.

With forty minutes to go, the lap times drop with several drivers briefly claiming P1. Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Hamilton, Russell and Antonelli all lap the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve quicker than Max’s early benchmark.

Max ahead of Canadian GP: 'Focus on improving'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6163/

Following an impressive debut at the Nurburgring 24 Hours, Max Verstappen returned to the Formula 1 paddock ahead of this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix. Before previewing the upcoming round in the F1 championship, the Oracle Red Bull Racing driver reflected on his adventure at the Nordschleife.

“I think in general it was a good week. I really enjoyed it. It was my first long distance race and everything went well. We had a car in good shape and we executed everything well. But that’s racing; it’s still a mechanical sport and it cost us the win. We controlled everything up until that point”, explained Max.

“Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the whole experience like the changing conditions and sharing a car with teammates. There are a lot of different types of racing, but this one has always been on my list and it’s something I want to keep doing.”

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6162/

After an eventful start to the 54th edition of the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring, which this year attracted a record crowd of 352,000 spectators, the #3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing car took the lead for the first time after three hours of racing. That sparked an hours-long battle fought on a knife-edge, with the lead changing hands repeatedly with the other factory-backed Mercedes-AMG, car #80.

In the end, it was that car – driven by Maro Engel, Luca Stolz, Fabian Schiller and Maxime Martin, and starting from P20 – that won the legendary endurance race on the iconic Nordschleife after Verstappen Racing retired with three hours remaining due to a driveshaft failure.

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6161/

The number 3 car of Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing managed to extend its lead between 9.00 am and 11.30 am to more than half a minute over the other factory-backed Mercedes-AMG, car #80, until disaster struck and the team’s hopes of victory in the 54th edition of the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring ended in technical retirement instead.

“It was good,” Max explained after his stint on Sunday morning, when Verstappen Racing was still leading. “Back in the daylight, trying to stay safe while still maintaining good pace and staying out of trouble. It felt good, the car was working well.”

Speaking about driving a GT3 car, Max added: “The competition, endurance style racing with team-mates. A 24-hour race, especially here, is incredibly challenging. That whole combination.” Will we see you back here next year? “I will for sure try, but it also depends on my calendar.”

Verstappen Racing has qualified fourth for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, which will start on Saturday afternoon at 15:00 Dutch time. Dani Juncadella, driving the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3, finished within nine tenths of the fastest time on the 25.3-kilometre circuit known as the Green Hell.

On Friday afternoon, the twelve fastest GT3 cars prepare to battle for pole position for the 54th edition of the legendary 24 Hours of Nürburgring on the famous Nordschleife. Dani Juncadella is on duty for Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing, after Max Verstappen took part in Top Qualifying 2, and Lucas Auer drove during Top Qualifying 1. A different driver is required for each session.

The final phase, Top Qualifying 3, follows a shoot-out format: all twelve remaining cars are shown the green flag one by one, ensuring everyone has a clear track to complete two flying laps. After some rain, the track has largely dried up, although a few damp patches remain.

Max qualifies for the battle for pole at the Ring: 'Goal achieved'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6152/

Max Verstappen ensured Verstappen Racing booked its place in the Nurburgring 24 Hours Top Qualifying 3, allowing the team to contest for pole. In Top Qualifying 1, Lucas Auer ensured Verstappen Racing progressed to Top Qualifying 2, in which Max finished sixth.

“I felt good in the car. Of course, our goal was to get into the Top Qualifying 3. That isn’t an easy task with this level of competition. There are a lot of fast cars, but we managed to do it. The last lap was just fast enough. Luckily it was dry and the car felt good.”

Max also reflected on his first Nordschleife laps in the night. “Yesterday, there were a lot of changing conditions and for me it was the first time in probably the worst circumstances with the rain and fog. But at least it gave me a good idea of what could be coming our way in the race.”

Limited action for Verstappen Racing during wet second qualifying

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6151/

Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing has finished the first day on the Nürburgring in third. Qualifying 2 was mostly spent milling about in the rain, meaning Max only managed to put down one lap. Luckily, teammates Lucas Auer, Jules Gounon and Daniel Juncadella did spend some more time in the car. Because of worsening weather conditions, no top times were improved upon.

Max sets third-fastest time in first qualifying of 24h Nurburgring

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6150/

Max Verstappen has set the third-fastest time in the first qualifying session for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring on behalf of Verstappen Racing. The four-time Formula 1 world champion spent a large part of the session behind the wheel. The qualifying session, which Max and the rest of the team view primarily as preparation for the remainder of the weekend, was disrupted by several yellow flags and changing weather conditions.

This year’s Nürburgring 24 Hours has attracted heightened interest from spectators. With 161 participating teams, it marks the largest field the event has seen in 10 years. For the first time in the event’s history, weekend tickets have sold out, and an estimated 300,000 spectators are expected around the circuit. Max will compete in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 prepared by Winward Racing, shared with Dani Juncadella, Jules Gounon, and Lucas Auer.

Q1 is the first of multiple qualifying sessions that will determine which teams advance to Top Qualifying later in the weekend. Verstappen’s team competes in the SP9 class for GT3 cars, the fastest category in the field. In total, participants are divided across 23 different classes. The SP9 class, together with the SP11, SP-PRO, SP-X, and AT1S classes, will later battle for pole position during the Top Qualifying sessions. For these top classes, the regular qualifying sessions mainly serve as preparation.

Max set for 24h Nurburgring debut: 'Success would mean winning'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6149/

Max Verstappen is set to take on one of endurance racing’s most demanding challenges this week as he makes his debut at the 24h Nürburgring at the legendary Nordschleife. The four-day event begins with qualifying on 14-15 May, before the 24-hour race will take place on 16-17 May.

The 24h Nürburgring is marking a totally new challenge for Max. It is one of endurance racing’s toughest tests and it is Max’s first crack at the 24-hour format and at this level. The four-time F1 world champion’s own team, Verstappen Racing, fields a Mercedes-AMG GT3 run by Team Winward Racing, with co-drivers Dani Juncadella, Jules Gounon and Lucas Auer.

“What the team mainly represents is also creating opportunities for other drivers”, says Max. “I started with an idea in mind of racing outside of Formula 1 myself, but at the same time – through the sim racing world – I wanted to create opportunities for a sim racer to go to the real world. That already worked with Chris (Lulham) so far.”

Max continues: “One of the biggest races of the year is of course the 24 hours of the Nürburgring, that’s why we are here. We are entering with a pro lineup and with myself in the lineup, that is really cool. It's also something I want to do every single year, with one car or multiple cars. The main objective and goal is to win races.”

Max named Driver of the Day in Miami

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6145/

Starting from the front row, Max Verstappen finished fifth in an eventful race in Miami. As a result, the Dutchman was named ‘Driver of the Day’ for the second time this season, the fan-voted award in Formula 1. After a spin on the opening lap, Max began a recovery drive, which he continued after being the only one of the front-runners to make a pit stop during an early safety car period. He then completed 51 of the 57 laps on the same set of hard tyres.

Kimi Antonelli had to work hard but ultimately converted his pole position, finishing ahead of the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. The Ferrari of Charles Leclerc was on course for a podium for a long time, but a spin on the penultimate lap dropped him back to P6.

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6144/

Following discussions between FIA, FOM and the Miami promoter, the decision has been taken to move the start of Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix to 13.00 local time in Miami - meaning 19.00 CEST - due to the weather forecast that is expected to bring heavier rainstorms later in the afternoon close to the original planned race start time.

This decision has been taken to ensure the least amount of disruption to the race, and to ensure the maximum possible window to complete the Grand Prix in the best conditions and to prioritise the safety of drivers, fans, teams and staff.

Mekies after qualifying Miami: 'Heading in the right direction'

https://news.verstappen.com/en/article/6143/

Laurent Mekies, CEO and team principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing, reflected on the Miami qualifying: “Today was certainly a step in the right direction and a great performance from Max and our team. There has been some amazing work done across the board in the factory, both on the chassis and PU side. Everyone has been working flat out to get to the bottom of what was limiting us so thank you to everyone for pushing so hard over the five-week break, so we could find this lap time and bring a better performance to Miami.”

Mekies continued: “Max’s performance today was really strong and he was fighting for pole during qualifying. With Isack, we're not yet in the position where he can really push the car but it was also a good effort from him. We don’t think we have fixed everything we need to fix, but we are certainly heading in the right direction based on what we have seen this weekend. We know we need more of that and we will take take all the opportunities tomorrow to keep improving.”
