Max previews Japanese GP: 'Still a lot to do'

Published on 25 March 2026 by Niels Hendrix

After the first two Grands Prix, Formula 1 has now arrived in Japan for the next round of the 2026 championship. Max Verstappen is looking forward to the race: “The first two races have been a bit more challenging than we would have liked and it was unfortunate that we had to retire the car in China with an ERS cooling issue. There is still a lot to do, however, I have a lot of confidence in the team and they have reviewed these issues and have been working hard to optimise the performance of the car.”

Max added: “Heading into Suzuka, this is one of my favourite tracks to race at with lots of high speed corners. There is a lot of history at this circuit for the team and it is one I always look forward to coming back to. It is nice to also spend a bit of time in Tokyo before heading to Suzuka, so we are looking forward to a couple of days there too.”
