For the third year in succession, Thierry Vermeulen will compete in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM), one of the world’s most prestigious touring car championships, consisting of ten rounds. The 22-year-old ambitious Dutch racing driver will continue racing in a Ferrari 296 GT3, run by the Swiss Emil Frey Racing team, under the support of Verstappen.com Racing.
This weekend the first round will be held at Oschersleben in Germany. Thierry said: “It is time for the first DTM race of 2025 and I am super excited to be back in DTM with Emil Frey Racing and Verstappen.com Racing, who are supporting me as well.”
“We had a long winter during which we looked at our last two seasons in DTM, to see where we can improve and how we can do better as a team and as a driver to be more consistent, so we can achieve solid top five to top eight weekends throughout the season. I think we found some good things and overall I am super happy with how the team did over the winter. We can be extremely proud and I can’t wait to kick off in Oschersleben.”
There is a new rule change, which for the fans can create some more action on the Sunday race, as now two pitstops are mandatory. Thierry shared his thoughts: “We will have to see how this plays out. This might not necessarily have a positive impact on us, as we sometimes struggle to get the tyre temperatures up, but in the end it’s the same for everyone so we will learn from this during the first weekend and see if we can use it to our advantage throughout the season.”
Thierry concluded: “I would like to thank my personal sponsors for all their support this season and I can ensure everyone I feel fully prepared and I am ready to give it 100% to maximise everything we have and get some great results together.”
