Max Verstappen has been voted Driver of the Day for the seventh time this season after a strategically thrilling race in the Qatar Grand Prix, the Formula 1 fan-voted award.
Starting from third on the grid, the Dutch Oracle Red Bull Racing driver immediately got the jump on Lando Norris at the start. When the safety car was deployed on lap seven following a collision between Nico Hülkenberg and Pierre Gasly, Verstappen was the first to be called in for a pit stop. While both McLaren drivers stayed out, the rest of the field soon followed Max’s lead and pitted as well. That moment proved decisive.
Although the McLarens were faster than most of the field, Oscar Piastri managed to fight his way back to second place, but Norris had to settle for fourth. Max drove a faultless race to claim his seventh victory of the season and the seventieth of his career.
