Verstappen Racing fourth in Portimao GTWC FP2

Published on 16 October 2026 by Stefan Meens

Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing clocked the fourth fastest time in the second Friday practice session of the final GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup weekend. The outfit, consisting of Max Verstappen, Ben Barnicoat and Chris Lulham, completed 39 laps of the Portimao circuit in the Algarve, Portugal.

Like in FP1, Max is the first driver to get behind the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG GT3. After twelve laps and a personal best of 1:43.482, Ben takes over driving duties and adds another dozen or so laps to the lap tally of Team Verstappen Racing.

Next up is fellow Brit Chris Lulham. Chris laps the circuit for the next half an hour, bettering Max’s earlier effort to clock a 1:43.229, a couple of tenths of the quickest time of the session set by the #17 GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG (1:42.988). In the closing stages Ben heads back out for a handful of laps to bring the total completed to 38.
