Thierry previews DTM at the Sachsenring: 'Confident heading there'

Published on 20 August 2025 by Niels Hendrix

For the third year in succession, Thierry Vermeulen competes in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM), one of the world’s most prestigious touring car championships, consisting of ten rounds. The 23-year-old ambitious Dutch racing driver continues racing in a Ferrari 296 GT3, run by the Swiss Emil Frey Racing team, under the support of Verstappen.com Racing.

This weekend the sixth round will be held at the Sachsenring in Germany. Thierry said: “I am ready for the Sachsenring. We had a very successful test there last week with all the DTM teams present. It was good to do some laps on this track, which is a great track in itself, very high speed so there is little margin for error. It is important to feel confident with the car. We did over 100 laps during the test, so we had the chance to try many different things and get comfortable and extract more lap time from the car.”

Thierry added: “The Sachsenring is a track with great memories. I had my first DTM pole position there last year, so great to go back. We have been strong on our pace in the last few races, so I feel quite confident heading to the Sachsenring. Of course, in the last race we didn’t collect the amount of points we wanted due to some mistakes from my side, so I’ve taken the time to review and understand how to do better.”
