According to British racing magazine Autosport company officials at Honda are claiming a budget of around 600 million British Pounds (nearly $1 billion) over the next five years. The amount of money is needed for their target: to become World Champions as soon as possible. The magazine said the amount, in a sport where financial details are kept highly secret, would be "a large spend even in Williams/McLaren terms; probably on a par with what Ferrari budgets for the category." However Autosport also said some Honda decision-makers were unconvinced and a major political battle behind the scenes will be fought out before the Japanese team enters the championship next season.
