Returning from a holiday in Austria Jos Verstappen wishes everyone a happy and healty New Year. Last Sunday he returned together with his wife Sophie and children Max and Victoria from a deserved holiday. "I have had an awesome week with my family and friends. Every year we go to the same hotel in Austria. Quiet, excellent snow conditions and everything is very cosy. I am fully recharged, no physically but it is very refreshing - literally!."
Jos is leaving for Italy for a karting event. "No I am not racing myself, it's Max' turn. Next season a lot of changes are made in the rules. We are going for a training session, on a dry track. That is why we are going to Italy. The circumstances are a lot better than here in The Netherlands or Belgium. Max will be competing in the Belgian Championship and probably the club championship in Genk as well. He could do with some training."
Jos had some physical excercise while he was in Austria on the ski slopes. Next week he will be leaving for Indonesia where on January 15th the next of the A1GP races will be. Jos doesn't know the Sentul circuit. "I will see what happens. It doesn't matter because the rest of the teams do not know the circuit either. I will walk a couple of laps to do some reconaissance and then it's in the car and drive. That is all I can say at the moment."
What about the future? Are you staying in A1 or will it be something else? "I would like to race in the summer, well that means after the A1 season has finished. I don't know what will happen. We have some contacts with DTM (German equivalent of BTCC) to se if there are possibilities. I will not/ cannot mention any names, no point anyway. Most important now is that I want to be 200% focused on the remaining 6 A1GP races. There are still a lot of points we could gain. I hope we will be able to create some fireworks. We have to move forwards within the A1GP Championship. We have a fantastic team which is getting better all the time. I am confident that we will be able to end higher up the ranks at the end of the season."
