Max Verstappen was again spectacular in yet another Formula Renault 2.0 test. On Monday and Tuesday the Tech 1 Racing team was giving Max the opportunity to test two days at the Hungaroring. Rookie Formula Renault 2.0 driver Max surprised everybody with the fastest lap time!
"In Hungary we started every session on used tyres and that went very well on my first day with Tech 1 Racing. We've used that day to adjust the brakes and the balance of the car", says Max. "We were among the fastest drivers, but today was mostly about the handling of the car. It had a bit too much over steer for my liking."
On the second day there are some sets of fresh tyres. Max: "That was fantastic! Immediately I was eight tenths of a second faster, was the fastest on track and was very close to the track record."
At the end of the afternoon Max gets new tyres mounted on his Tech 1 car again. "That was twenty minutes before the end of the session and that's what we had been working towards all day", says Max. Again the 16-year old Dutchman is fastest with a hand clocked 1:41.58s. Not only four hundreds of a second faster than Alex Albon, but also faster than the official track record for Formula Renault 2.0 cars (1:41.78s).
Max: "We are very happy with these results. It's satisfying that everything went so great with Tech 1 Racing."
