Max positive after Lausitzring test

After a miserable end to his Pau Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was back in his Van Amersfoort Racing Formula 3 car. At the Lausitzring in Germany, the 16-year-old Dutchman absolved a test session ahead of the fourth round of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship held at the Hungaroring upcoming weekend.
“The main aim for the day was to work on the set-up of the car as a whole. Despite rain being forecast, it remained dry all day so we were able to do a lot of mileage”, explains a satisfied Max, after lapping the 2.1 mile long track over a 100 times.
“We were very happy with the dry weather conditions as it enabled us to test several different brake pads, which is something you can't really test in the rain”, explains Max. “Basically there are three different brake system manufacturers in F3. Some teams use Brembo or AP, but here at Van Amersfoort Racing we use Performance Friction.”
Apart from testing several different brake pads, Van Amersfoort focused their attention on the car's set-up. Max: “We tried several changes at the front and rear of the car which lead to small improvements to make the car even faster. All in all we are happy with the progress we've made today.”
The next stop is Hungary for the fourth round of the European Formula 3 campaign. A positive note is Max' quick recovery of a hand injury due to a crash in the Pau Grand Prix. “The injury isn’t fully healed yet, but it doesn’t bother me in the car at all”, reveals Max.
Regardless, the rapid Dutchman will travel to the Hungaroring with confidence as earlier in the year he placed himself among the front runners at the first collective Euro F3 test.
