Max cheers at the Red Bull Kart Fight World Final

Published on 25 April 2015 by Niels Hendrix

Formula 1-driver Max Verstappen was master of ceremonies for the Red Bull Kart Fight World Final in Austria. The teenager took time out from his F1 schedule to cheer on the finalists who make up the cream of amateur go-kart racers from around the world. After meeting the drivers and signing some autographs, Max took a selfie with all the finalists.

The Red Bull Kart Fight World Final itself was a thriller that saw 18-year-old Andrejs Laipnieks of Latvia triumph after a close-fought 30-minute race at the Red Bull Ring.

Laipnieks, who was presented with the winners trophy by Max, said: “It’s been a fantastic event. The guys raced me so hard in the final and I just had to keep pushing and pushing. They drove a great race, they have been great competition all the way through.”
First runner-up was 31-year-old Mika Helen of Finland, followed by Mohamed Matar, 28, from Bahrain.

Max, along with fellow Red Bull athletes Pierre Gasly and Callum Ilott, was thrilled to watch and co-commentate the race and summed it up very well: “It has been a brilliant event and as Andrejs won three of the four races today, you have to say he is a very worthy Red Bull Kart Fight World Champion.”
