Formule 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, talking to the Daily Mail, shares his thoughts on Max Verstappen’s performance: “I am really happy with him. He and Carlos Sainz are doing a bloody good job. Verstappen is very impressive.”
Super-license rules introduced since Max’s entry as Formula 1 youngest ever competitor require debutants to be aged eighteen and to have notched up points under an exhaustive process in lower formulas. Max would have been lost to the sport, for now at least.
“Formula 1 cannot afford to wait for these young talents”, says 84-year-old Ecclestone. “It is like telling Mozart he can’t play piano because he is too young. If he’s good enough, that’s it.”
