Max puts a smile on crowd's and his own face at Spa

Published on 31 May 2015 by Stefan Meens

After Max Verstappen entertained the crowd at the Spa-Francorchamps round of the World Series by Renault campaign on Saturday, the Dutchman once again boarded the Infiniti Red Bull Racing Formula 1 demonstration car on the Sunday. “It's a lot of fun to do demonstrations and to entertain the crowd, especially with the classic loud Formula 1 noise”, said a visibly joyful Max as he referred to the howling V8 engine in the back of his Red Bull.

To avoid the risk of completely shredding the tyres, Max does a couple of donuts less compared to Saturday. Nonetheless, he put his mark on the tarmac at the Bus Stop chicane and the La Source hairpin. “Creating smoke and entertaining the crowd is a lot of fun.”

Apart from his demonstration runs, Max is a busy man in the Spa paddock. The media and fans queue up to interview and meet the youngest ever Formula 1 driver. “If I could, I would give everyone an autograph”, says Max right before a scooter picks him up. The 17-year-old is asked to hand out the trophy to the Formula Renault 3.5 winner.

After that, Max once again hits the track. This time he operates as a taxi driver, piloting the Renault R.S. 01 around the legendary circuit in the Ardennes. Max finishes his day on track with a second demonstration run in the RB8.

“The World Series by Renault is a brilliant event for motor sport fans. The entry is free, there's a lot of fun stuff going on off and on track. It's quite an experience! On top of that, Spa-Francorchamps is one of my favourite tracks. In particular Eau Rouge is special. With all the fast corners, the circuit has a great rhythm to it and it just doesn’t seem to end.”

Unfortunately for the fans, the day did end. However, in a couple of weeks time, Max will do more demonstrations. On 28 June, Max will share the Zandvoort circuit with his dad as both drive a Formula 1 car during Italia a Zandvoort.

Tickets for Italia a Zandvoort are only € 12,50 and can be ordered on news.verstappen.com or www.circuit-zandvoort.nl
