Max previews Monaco: "Curious to see what we can do"

Published on 15 May 2017 by Stefan Meens

After a disappointing Spanish Grand Prix, Max Verstappen’s race lasted just one lap, Max spoke to Ziggo Sport’s Peptalk about the next challenge: the Monaco Grand Prix.

“I’m really looking forward to the updates. Hopefully that will bring us more forward. If you look at the final sector in Barcelona, which consists mainly of corners, we were the third fastest team. We were even in front of Ferrari so I’m curious to see what we can do."

One of the challenges facing the drivers at every track, are the available tyres and making them work. In Monaco, the concern is that the tyres provided by Pirelli are too hard. “They don’t work well for Monaco. You can’t get the heat in them. That’s going to be quite a challenge. It means we can’t set a proper lap time in qualifying in just one lap.”

Between now and the Grand Prix, Max has a packed schedule. “I’m going to be very busy. Tomorrow I’ll do some working out in Monaco before flying to Austria for a PR-event. On Thursday I’ll be in England in the simulator. Than over the weekend - Friday, Saturday, Sunday – I’ll be in Zandvoort for the Jumbo Racing Days. I’m really looking forward to that one. Hopefully a lot of people will join us!”

If you want to join the fun this weekend (20 & 21 May) at Circuit Zandvoort, you can buy tickets here www.circuitzandvoort.nl. Like last year, you can get free dune tickets if you purchase Red Bull action products at Jumbo Supermarkets (www.jumboracedagen.nl).
