Jordan now has its own junior team. Jordan has an agreement with the German F3 team GM Motorsport due to which the team will appear in the well-known Jordan colors at the openingsrace of the German F3 Championship at Hockenheim. The snake head can not be used because it's a registered tobacco trademark. From now on the team will compete as the GM Jordan F3 and part of the deal will propably be F1 testdrives for drivers Norman Simon and Steffen Widmann.
Rumours that the Benetton team is for sale are persisting. At first Porsche was named as possible buyer, but now the VAG (Volkswagen Audi) group is named as possible buyer. VAG also owns Porsche.
At last Ferrari will be using the new 046/2 engine during the San Marino Grand Prix. The new engine was meant to be used from the start of the season but reliability problems prevented the team from doing so up until now. The new engine is more powerful but seems to consume more fuel than the 046/1 engine. Williams will propably be using the, since long talked about power steering, for the first time at Imola.
John Barnard, the 50 year old designer from South Africa, has signed an agreement, which was speculated about last week, with Ferrari to take over Ferrari Design & Development Ltd., the English design and development facility of Ferrari. The company will now be known as B3 Technologies Ltd. and will continue to work, autonomously from Ferrari, on designing and building among others F1 cars. The facility that John Barnard is taking over has already been linked with TWR Arrows.
