Vettel tops final Hungaroring test day

Sebastian Vettel was quickest in his Ferrari on the second and final day of the Hungaroring mid-season test. Robert Kubica, participating in his first official Formula 1 event since his horrendous rally crash in 2011, was the most productive driver with 142 laps on the board. The Renault driver was fourth fastest.
The drivers’ list included a lot of (fairly) new names; Lando Norris (McLaren), George Russell (Mercedes), Luca Ghiotto (Williams), Santino Ferrucci (Haas), Nobuharu Matsushita (Sauber), Lucas Auer and Nikita (both Force India) joined the more familiar names of Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari), Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat (both Scuderia Toro Rosso) during the day’s testing. Red Bull Racing opted to let Red Bull Junior Pierre Gasly take the reigns.
In the end, Sebastian Vettel continued his fine form displayed during his win last weekend, by clocking the fastest lap (1:17.124). It will give the German, also the current championship leader, confidence when the Formula 1 season resumes after the summer break at Spa-Francorchamps.
