Jos has improved upon his time in the second free practice session by half a second. It didn't bring him too much as he is now 20th fastest in the combined free practice standings. Mika Salo was not able to improve and slipped down to a 19th position. Fastest time is still being held by Ralf Schumacher although he didn't go any faster in the second session. Jean Alesi and Mika Hakkinen did and are now second and third quickest.

Ralf Schumacher was again the quickest man in today's first free practice session. With a time of 1m42.998s he headed his teammate Fisichella by three tenths of a second. Jos was 17th quickest setting a time of 1m46.998s, one second slower than teammate Mika Salo who was 11th quickest.
