Max reflects on Friday: 'The car is good'

After free practice at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Max Verstappen spoke to Ziggo Sport’s Olav Mol to review the first day of his Mexican Grand Prix weekend.
“The car is good, we just lose too much time on the straights, so I don’t expect to fight for pole. If you lose nine tenths to a second, that’s just ridiculous”, reflected Max. “But from our side, it was a good day. There are always things to improve, but in general it was positive.”
Asked about the twisty stadium section and how short-shifting helps, Max responds: “Sometimes I do it, sometimes I don’t. We have a lot of power, so sometimes it’s better to do a short-shift to have a better balance in the corner. With these new hybrid engines you see short-shifting more often; if you have a problem with the rear, it’s easy to quickly short-shift.”
