Today the Tyrrell team has completed a 1 day test session with the new 'small' Tyrrell 025X on a sunny circuit of Silverstone. For the first time Jos has been able to drive the experimental Tyrrell in dry weather conditions and maintains his enthousiasm for the car. Today the team was experimenting with a different front wheel suspension and with another differential. The team drove with normal as well as grooved tyres. Jos told us that each time the car is better than the last time and so the team is still making progress. According to Jos engine power is still of the utmost importance, even with the smaller car. The new rules don't have the effect that engine power is less important.

Some more rumours for the 1998 season: Damon Hill is again named as a possibility for McLaren-Mercedes. Before the Hungarian Grand Prix Damon has met with McLaren teamboss Ron Dennis. The contracts between McLaren and Coulthard and Häkkinen end this season. Coulthard on his turn seems to have had talks with Eddie Jordan to drive for him next year. Eddie Jordan though is talking with a lot of drivers about the replacement of Fisichella.
