Mika Salo will definitively leave Tyrrell to drive for Arrows in 1998 where he will find Pedro Diniz as a teammate. Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw said: "We looked very carefully at all the options and, after discussing the matter with our technical partners and sponsors, realised that Mika would be the most appropriate driver for us. We have had a learning year in many ways and I am sure the undoubted talents of both Mika and Pedro will provide the perfect partnership to take us forward. I want to thank Damon Hill for all his contributions to the team this year. It has been invaluable to have the world champion driving for us and I want to wish him the best of luck for the future."
Negotiations between Prost and Hill have also come to an end today. Prost said that negotiations with Hill had broken down because they had different priorities. "Everything broke down on Tuesday. Hill's priorities were different to ours and when that happens in this business then it is better that you don't team up." Prost said. Prost also announced the return of Olivier Panis in F1 in the Luxemburg Grand Prix on September 28. Hill has now pointed his arrows (!) in the direction of Jordan, who are looking for a replacement of Giancarlo Fisichella. Hill seems to be asking $7.5 million for his services.
