Max Verstappen has an incredible winning streak of no less than nine victories in a row, after his victory in the hectic Dutch Grand Prix at the circuit of Zandvoort. In addition to this amazing streak, Oracle Red Bull Racing has won all races so far this season.
Max, you now have won the Dutch Grand Prix three times in a row. Was this the most special win? Max replies: “All three victories were different, but this one was definitely the hardest one.”
“Today’s race was probably one of the hardest to win this season,” the two-time World Champion continues. “I never dared to dream of nine wins in a row. Of course I am very happy with that. But also of course to have been able to win here, in front of the home crowd."
Since the Grand Prix of Miami you have won every race. What has unleashed that winning streak? Max: “I think I learned a lot from the race in Baku, how to do some things with the set-up of the car. I didn’t win that race in Baku, but I’ve really tried a lot of different settings in the car. That was why I was a little bit inconsistent throughout the race, but at one point I got into a good rhythm with what I had found out. That was quite interesting for the next races, and I basically implemented that and it has helped me on every track.”
You may have the fastest car in the field, but how hard is it to keep performing and winning time after time? Max: “Even if you have the best car - and I think there have been even more dominant cars in the past - it is a great achievement, that is hard to achieve. Especially on a day like today, when it’s easy to make a wrong call or drop it yourself in the gravel for example. It’s never that straight forward.”
