As was expected after yesterday's Austrian newspaper report Gerhard Berger has announced his retirement from active racing, following the last Grand Prix in Jerez next weekend. He did so in Vienna at a press conference today. Gerhard likes to spend more time with his family. Berger lives in Monaco, is married to Ana and has three children, including his six months old baby Heidi. Berger didn't rule out the possibility that he might return to F1 in another role but only after a long break.

Due to a limited supply of units available only Jan Magnussen will be able to use the latest P9-spec Ford V10 engine during practice for the European GP next weekend. After the free practice it will be decided wether the team will use it for qualifying as well. Rubens Barrichello will have a choice of the P7/4-spec and the P8-spec engine next weekend.

Due to the disqualification of Jacques Villeneuve in last weekend's Japanese GP we can now publish the results of our prize contest for that Grand Prix. Ron Matthijssen scored 32 points and was the lucky winner in last week's contest. Jeanien Schaart, Arthur Viegers, Marcel Groenendijk and Floris Hommes were the numbers 2 to 5. The extra prize for predicting closest to the fastest lap time is won by Johnny Hobbelen, who was only 0.013 seconds off from Frentzen's fastest lap time. We congratulate all winners.
