Thierry ahead of DTM Sachsenring: 'Goal is the podium'

Published on 04 September 2024 by Niels Hendrix

Verstappen.com Racing is represented in the DTM and GT World Challenge Sprint (GTWC) by Thierry Vermeulen, who drivers a Ferrari 296 GT3 of Emil Frey Racing. The Dutchman previews the upcoming DTM weekend at the Sachsenring.

“It’s race week and this weekend we are back in DTM Sachsenring, personally one of my favourite tracks so I am super excited to be back. I think the track should suit us pretty well with all the high-speed corners, one of the points where the Ferrari is strong so we have prepared very hard together with Emil Frey. Lots of sim work to be prepared to the maximum. I am feeling positive. I think the weather conditions will be mixed so we will see the effects.”

Thierry adds: “The timetable is slightly different and we will have a very busy Saturday. This is new for us, this is a try-out for future races. We will see how it works out. I always enjoy going to these old school tracks that are a little different to the usual ones. Degradation here plays a massive role on the tyres, qualifying is always exciting and very tight and we’ve had decent results in the past with P5, so let’s hope we can do better this weekend and my goal is definitely to be on the podium.”
