Jos fifth after day one of the Rallye du Valais

Jos Verstappen and Renaud Jamoul finsihed fifth on the opening day of the Rallye du Valais in Switzerland. The duo entered the two-day event in a newly liveried Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 car.

On both the Friday and Saturday, the (co-)drivers contest three different timed stages, each driven twice. Day one featured Fortunau - La Tzoumaz (12.6km, Bramois – Saint-Martin (16.1km) and Ayer – Les Agettes (13.4km).

The rally set in a dramatic mountainous background, posed a new challenge for Verstappen and Jamoul, as the pair drive their first event on Swiss soil.

Nevertheless, the pair enjoyed a solid start after finishing eight, seventh and tenth in the opening loop of the day. Jos then used his newfound experience to clock the seventh, fifth and sixth fastest times on the second loop.

Heading into the final day of the event, Jos and Renaud are in fifth place in the general classification, trailing rally leader Jonathan Hirschi by 1m17s.
