Whilst Oracle Red Bull Racing team mate Liam Lawson is lapping the Bahrain International Circuit in the new RB21, reigning champion Max Verstapppen speaks to the media in the paddock on the second day of the Formula 1 pre-season test.
“Of course, I’ve only driven the car for half a day, but I really enjoyed driving again”, says the Dutchman. “It’s difficult to judge our pace. The most important thing is that it’s nice to drive. The car is predictable. I think we’ve learned a lot from last year. We’ll see how it goes in Australia.”
Regarding the development of theRB21, Max is positive. “I think we are going in the right direction and we’ll need to continue like that and get the most out of it. We’ve only just begun and there’s still a lot to discuss and improve. The fact I’m enjoying it, is a big change from last year."
The Dutchman adds: The car has improved in all aspects and feels better through the whole corner; that’s all I could wish for. We still have to find performance and there’s plenty analyse, but it’s a good start.”
