Max ahead of Singapore GP: 'I'm not really worrying'

Published on 02 October 2025 by Stefan Meens

Ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, Max Verstappen, who turned 28 on Tuesday, spoke with the media in the Marina Bay Circuit paddock. He reflected on his last race weekend at the on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. There, together with Chris Lulham, the Dutchman took the win in NLS9 racing for Verstappen.com Racing in a Ferrari 296 GT3.

“I’ve had a lot of fun”, explained Max. “A lot of preparation went into it and I had two great days at the Nordschleife. I drove on both a wet and dry track and gained experience driving in a lot of traffic. To then win, that’s an extra bonus. I’ve driven the Nordschleife for years on the simulator, so it wasn’t that different in real life; it felt very natural. My teammate Chris and I really enjoyed it. We’ve won a lot together online, but for Chris to get in a real car on such a track; he did really well. We were just quick.”

After a successful debut, Max is keen to contest the Nürburgring 24 hours, but it is yet unclear when that would happen. “It depends on a lot of things. First, we have to see how things are in Formula 1 with the complex rule changes coming up. So things could get more hectic. And things have to really come together before I can plan to enter the race. We really want to return to the Norschleife with Verstappen.com Racing, but at the moment I don’t how many or which races I’ll contest. But if it all works out, I will be there.”

The Marina Bay Street Circuit poses and altogether different challenge compared the Ring with Singapore’s hot, wet, and humid tropical climate. “The last two races were at low downforce and low tyre degradation tracks. Here in Singapore, it’s a lot tougher on the tyres and it’s high downforce. I don’t think that really suits our car, but we’ll have to wait and see. Last year we finished second, with a big gap to first, so hopefully we are more competitive. I’ll do my best.”

Wit seven rounds of the 2025 season remaining, Max trails championship leader Oscar Piastri by 69 points. The Aussie’s McLaren teammate Lando Norris, is 44 points ahead of Max. “I don’t really think about the championship. It’s a big gap so I just look at it race by race. If the car is good enough, I can win the race. It’s as simple as that. If we can’t win the race, it is the way it is. I don’t really worry about these things.”
