Jos explained in front of the RTL4 camera to be extremely dissapointed not to drive for Tyrrell this year. According to Verstappen the whole Tyrrell team was backing him but in the end it was Craig Pollock who chose for (the cash of) Rosset.

About his plans for the future Jos said. At the moment it is hard to say as the decision has only been made recently. We stay in motorracing, that's for sure. I do not rule out that I will be back in Grand Prix racing again. We remain focused on Formula 1, stay in contact with the teams and show our faces at the circuits. You never know what happens in Formula 1 and also beyond 1998 there is a new season. For this year Indycar is one of the options but if I go there I want to drive for a top team which will be difficult as all the top seats have been given away already." All in all Jos was reasonably positive about his future in motorracing after the dissapoining news from Tyrrell. "We just have to wait which opportunities will come towards us, at the moment there is just a lot of uncertainty" Jos concluded.
