The McLarens were supreme again in the first session of the free practice today. Mika Häkkinen became first with 1:18.843, followed by his team-mate David Coulthard. Half-way the session was stopped for a few minutes because of a severe crash of Jan Magnussen. The Dane stayed unhurt, his car however didn't.
