Fortunately it was dry during the second free practice session for the Grand Prix of Hungaria at the Hungaroring. The Stewart Fords did much better on a dry track than on a wet track. Rubens Barrichello and Jos Verstappen did a nice result with a 10th and 12th time, with Barrichello slightly (0.5 sec.) better than Jos.

In front it was the same old story: the two McLaren Mercedes' before the Ferrari of M. Schumacher, but this time it was Coulthard before Mika Hakkinen. Another good result for Villeneuve who was only 2 thousands of a second behind Schumacher and therewith proving again that Williams is on return to the top. Another good result for Jordan with Hill and Ralf Schumacher on place 6 and 8.
