Mika Hakkinen won a not very exciting race just before David Coulthard. Jacques Villeneuve and Damon Hill did a very good job to become third and fourth. Michael and Ralf Schumacher completed the top 6.
After Rubens Barrichello's first pitstop an interesting fight between the Brazilian and Jos Verstappen arised. It was clear that Rubens had a better roadability and more downforce and after a few laps he had passes Jos.
Unfortunately Jos Verstappen again didn't manage to complete the Grand Prix for Stewart-Ford, because he dropped out in the 25th lap with gearbox problems. Simular problems forced Rubens Barrichello to quit a few laps later too.

Jos told us that his start was good and that he had started on a one-stop strategy with much fuel onboard. However, after twelve laps he had grip problems caused by tyre wear, which dropped him back. After his pitstop - which went well - the car felt much better, but after three laps he got gearbox problems and had to quit, just like Rubens Barrichello would do later on.
About his duel with Rubens Jos said that he would have been able to stay ahead of his team-mate, but that he let Barrichello pass for the teams interest. He also had major tyre problems, while Rubens just had new tyres.
Jos is very disappointed abou this week-end, that already started bad with a inflammation of the ear and problems with finding the right set-up. According to us and Jos, this is a week-end to forget fast.
Jos also told that the Stewart-team will test on the Silverstone circuit next week. Rubens Barrichello will test on Tuesday and Wednesday and Jos on Wednesday and Thursday.
