Ralf Schumacher and two times CART champion Alex Zanardi are the Williams drivers for the 1999 season. After weeks of rumours and speculations, the announcement was not a real surprise sins both drivers were named on several occasions. After Schumacher was permitted to leave the Jordan team, he was immediately linked to Williams when it appeared that Heinz Harald Frentzen was joining Jordan. Alex Zanardi was named much earlier for the Williams seat as the successor of Jacques Villeneuve. Zanardi is familiar to formula 1. In 1994 he drove for team Lotus alongside Johnny Herbert.
